Be Charmed With the Blackthorne Inn & Restaurant
My family and I wish to welcome you to our Irish Oasis, The Blackthorne Inn & Restaurant! We have taken much care to turn this beautiful historical setting into an elegant and relaxing getaway for you. Whether you seek a delightful meal, a fun weekend retreat or a special event, we guarantee your experience will be memorable!
I’ve been asked many times why we chose the name “The Blackthorne Inn.” My great-grandfather, John O’Connor was a lighthouse keeper, as was my father, who in their spare time would take the branches of the Blackthorn bush and create the Irish cudgel, or shillelagh. They also somehow discovered how to put those little ships in the bottles! I guess it is a way of honoring my Irish heritage and my family.
Come Stay at the Blackthorne Inn
In the serene rolling hunt country of Virginia’s Blue Ridge foothills, The Blackthorne Inn & Restaurant offers hospitality and cuisine just 1-hour outside of Washington DC. The Restaurant which is located in the 250-year old historic residence is the centerpiece of 45 acres once owned by George Washington. The property features 11 guest rooms, including private log cabins, and dining at Wolfe Tone’s Pub with a scenic alfresco patio for lunch and dinner.
The Inn has 7 rooms in the restored stables up on top of the hill, 4 individual log cabins, which sit at the back of the property in the wooded area and 1 individual cottage behind the stable area.
The grounds and the Leinster Ballroom are a beautiful setting for private events. There is also a large event tent area and a walking bridge across the pond to the gazebo.Learn More
